ABOUT ABOUT

In the past Scotch whisky had familiar names such as Cutty Sark, Teachers, and Dewars.  The whisky on the shelf today is a product virtually unheard of in America several decades ago, often identified by tongue-twisting names such as Bruichladdich, Glenmorangie, Lagavulin, and Laphroaig.

A lively presentation will take you through the Highlands and finish in the Western Isles to taste a representative sample of single malts.  You will view distilleries nestled in Brigadoon-like settings while tasting whisky with unique characteristics calling up floral, spice, fruit, nut, smoke, sweets, and even peat sensations.  You will learn how Scotland’s “water of life” is made from only three ingredients -- barley, water, and yeast – but offers wide-ranging, distinctive qualities.

The tasting will be conducted by Atlanta attorney, Mac Irvin, St Andrews alum who has conducted tastings for hundreds of attendees at events offered for non-profit and social organizations.
